Saturday I went to a party for SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS. It was hosted at a beautiful house in Boston's suburby section by a senior from my Spanish class. She and her roommate Wendy invited twenty-odd people including me, made deeeelicious fall foods (including butterbeer to drink! yes, from Harry Potter), got one of the guests to play the acoustic guitar for a couple hours and everyone sang along, had us play card games and Scattergories and the like, and generally entertained the pants off us. Not literally, of course. (Aww.) It was totally awesome. And then, when the party ended at 11:30, it was raining really hard, so Teddi, the friend of mine from Spanish class, offered to drive me part of the way home. So freakin nice! *happy sigh*
Oh, yes, and my meeting with Professor Luis is tomorrow! Eek. I'm very excited, but I'm also nervous. I've invoked Jason's humble spirit and am now afraid he's going to be complimenting me too much. It's embarrassing when you get right down to it. But anyway. *dramatic* Somehow I'll survive!
I've actually been doing some research on what one could do with a linguistics degree, you know, to go in prepared with something to talk about. And I looked up MIT, since Luis had mentioned sending a student off there...and I really don't see what the big deal is. Yeah, it's famous, but it's an institute of technology. Why in the world would anyone go there if they're interested in any languages other than, I don't know, binary! Seems silly.
