My 6 Year Anniversary with Arno

Feb 13, 2013 12:47

Well yesterday was the "offical" 6 year anniversary of Arno and I becoming a couple. Can you believe it? How much time has passed and how many things have changed in six long years. Time is such a strange phenominon to me...that all at once it is so slow and so present yet so fast and holds SO MUCH within its past.

I woke up yesterday morning, rushing to get to work as always, showering 40 minutes I was supposed to be in my office. I was running out the door at something like 9:01 and I caught a piece of yellow paper out of the corner of my eye. It was another note from Arno (he left me my first note a few weeks ago) that read "HAPPY ANNIVESARY BABY <3 MORE TO COME... HAVE A GREAT DAY, I <3 u!!! :)" There was a chocolate covered, heart-shapped donut waiting for me for breakfast. I always love donuts, but having been pregnant these last five months, I've been eating things I normally don't eat often, and donuts definitely fall into that category. I almost screamed I was so happy and surprised. I ran back in the bedroom and smoothered his sleeping face with little kisses.

After I got off work, I had a feeling he was going to make dinner for me, and I was hoping he would because I was STARVING. If he had not, I was going to invite him to Rib City Grill as I have been craving baby-back ribs lately. But I got home, and the privacy lock was latched, so I had a feeling he was up and creating some sort of suprirse for me behind the door.

He answered the door and I walked into our clean apartment. Pretty much every candle we own was lit and the white lights on the patio were on with all the windows open. "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri was playing on the Love Station on Pandora on Arno's iPad. I could tell he was cooking because the house smelled amazing. I just lit up. Arno had me sit down at the table and served me fettuccini with marinara sauce with baja chicken sausage and wheat garlic bread. He came over with a towel over his arm and a bottle of mango Gatorade and served it to me like a fine wine. We ate together by candlelight and had a nice conversation. It was so romantic and sweet. I think it was the happiest I've been in years. After dinner he gave me some refrigerated M&Ms, a chocolate covered strawberry and a card. I believe it was the sweetest card I've ever received in my life. On one side it had comments like "shoeboat" and "BAMF" and "Siempre y por vida" throughout. The other side had a note he wrote to me that almost made me cry. It started out something like

"I just wanted to thank you
for being my HERO
for being a light in a dark place
for being my true love
Our future together is so bright
and I look forward to growing old with you."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw.

Favorite. Card. Ever.

We laid around for a little bit and of course we made out a bit too. ;) He had to work last night, but it was probably the best night I've ever spent with him. It was WON DER FUL. :D

arno, anniversary, happiness, love
