long overdue update

See, when I started this job I was all excited because I thought "Yay! I'll be by my computer all day so I'll be able to keep up with LJ so much better!!"

Little did I know that, yes, I'd be on my computer all day, but I'd have literally no free time to do anything besides work. Between the phones, the faxes, and the 234235454 millions songs I've recieved and had to wade through to pick out tracks good enough to forward on to my boss.... I've had no time to keep up like I wanted to. And honestly, I've missed you girls so much. I hope all is well. I've wanted to pop in and see what's what with you, but really at the end of the day getting back on my computer once I'm home is the last thing I want to do.

So, yes... as you can gather I've been very busy. There's a lot of BAAAAAD music out there, people. I had no idea. And it's my job to sift through everthing that gets sent into this office. This includes both mp3s that publishers are sending in for specific projects and the 5-10 CDs that come in the mail every day. On the upside, I have gotten to hear some advance copies of things, such as a new Bloc Party track, Mario track, the new Katharine McPhee album, new Peter Bradley Addams, etc. And I've also found a ton of really great new artists/bands that I'd never heard of before... I'll share them soon, but that's a whole post of its own and I don't have time for that atm.

In personal news...
The computer is dying I think. I need to start saving for a new one. Great.

At the same time, Anth and I have really started to talk about what's going to happen come summer. Assuming I'm not settled into a job down here, I'm starting to seriously consider moving back up to northern CA again... somewhere in the Bay area so I can work in San Francisco but still live within an hours commute or so, so the rent's cheaper. The kind of place we want, though, seems to be going for 1000-1300 a month... I don't know how we're going to afford it. Once we're both working and settled I don't imagine it would be much of a problem, but starting off.... I don't think either of us have enough saved to cover the first few months rent plus deposits and furnishings and the like. Granted, we wouldn't need much in the furnishings department thanks to all his mom's stuff and stuff I've bought/saved over the years... but still we'd need a sofa, dining set, mattress/springs, desks... even at IKEA all that will probably run us another $1000-2000. I don't know how much help we'd get from our respective parentals... I have to admit, the idea of our own apartment is very exciting, though.

At least my car is back, finally. And insurance covered all but my premium and about $40 of taxes on the rental car. Now I wait to see how much the accident hiked the insurance rate up. Yikes.

The job I have now, as far as I know, is ending in a week. She originally hired me for a month, and hasn't said anything about expanding that past next Friday's end date. Considering how busy she is, I don't see how she can do without an assistant for at least another few weeks, though. I guess I'll have to wait and see...

I'm starting to realize that becoming an adult sucks a bit.

I do hope all is well with all of you. I'll try to check in soon, I promise.
Great big, giant HUGS in the meantime.
