Hey all!
Sorry I haven't been around more... but I have good reason! I got a job! For a Music Supervisor!!!!!! That is what I want to be y'all. I couldn't have a better position than this right now... to see what doing this job is really about and if I really am capable enough to pursue it.
My responsibilities are those of a regular secretary (keep her schedule, update her phone/address list, answer phones, etc.)... but I've also been responsible for looking for songs to place into the movie projects she's working on. The whole week I've been looking for songs by bands on indie labels to replace songs by Iron & Wine, Norah Jones, and Duncan Sheik. (They have to be indie because the movie doesn't have the budget for major label songs). I also got to look for rock songs (any label) to place into a scene where people are sunbathing/playing soccer/jumping into a pool and playing around. Best part is, boss lady has really liked some of my suggestions so far! And considering how successful and knowledgeable she is (she's done such movies as Freedom Writers, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill), I take that as a huge compliment!
You should see her office, you guys. Wall to wall CDs. No Kidding. CDs allll over the place. Stacked on chairs, on tables, on sofas, on near floor-ceiling shelves across 2 walls in her office and 2 in mine. New stuff, old stuff, stock stuff, everything. I'm in heaven. :)
As of now It's only for a month... but then we'll see. Considering if she decides she needs me for longer or can recommend me to someone else she knows, maybe this is really my "in" into this career!
