Yes, it's time to start thinking about taxes. Normally it's not a big deal for us, except it is for my daughter. A couple of years ago she claimed tuition from 4 different universities (they were all legit; her main university, two universities from which she took one online course each, and the university in Poland where she did her field school courses). However, Revenue Canada must have been suspicious, because we had to submit a ridiculous amount of documentation; then it got more complicated since hubby was claiming some of her tuition (she didn't have any income that year), so it had to be submitted twice. What Revenue Canada failed to tell us was that each set of documents had to be mailed to a different address (no idea why). In the end we wound up having our Member of Parliament fax everything in and that seemed to make Revevenue Canada happy (finally). However, ever year since then they have asked her to submit ALL her documentation, even though every year she has done so her documents have all been in order. Still, this year she is attending yet another overseas university so I want to make sure we have all the documents in order in advance, as I fully expect them to ask for them.
On a different note - ever have one of those times in your life when a lot of coincidences seem to happen to you? That's me right now. Nothing major or even significant just odd. Like watching 3 random things on TV only to discover the same actor in all three. Or searching online to find out how long my favourite character in the show MI-5 will stay in the series only to discover that - hey! - he was the actor who portrayed Mr. Darcy in the 2005 film that also starred Keira Knightley, and I was just thinking the other day that I should plan on rereading the book soon (it's one of my favourites). Like I said - just odd.
On a positive note, my daughter was approached by one of her professors with the chance to do original research for her thesis project and she is soooo excited. The project is very hands-on, one that will give her a ton of experience dealing with police services, AND she has already been told that her thesis paper will likely be published in a professional journal. So, she's really thrilled.
My back is just beginning to speak to me again after that two-day stint of snow shovelling I stupidly did earlier this week. I've been avoiding the prescription strength painkillers because they tend to wind up giving me a LOT of abdominal pain which means I'm only trading off one pain for another, but so far I've been managing. Not great, but managing. So now I'm going to take myself off to bed and rewatch Pride & Prejudice - in which Matthew Macfadyen plays Mr. Darcy :D
