I'm still up at our condo at Deerhurst, and enjoying every minute of it (mostly). The kids and I came up Saturday evening, as did my sister and her kids. It was kind of funny, because all of us had been running around all day, yet it transpired that we both left Toronto at the same time so we decided to meet part-way up for dinner, which was fun. Hubby came up Monday around noon, so our elder kitty had some company for part of the week. He's leaving tomorrow as he has things he needs to be at home for. My sister and her kids are also leaving tomorrow as her youngest has to move into residence at college on Friday. Which means it'll just be the kids and me for the last two days, which is fine. It'll be quieter, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
My back has not adjusted to the different bed. Usually it takes a night or two and then I'm fine, but not this year. I guess it's because I buggered it up so badly earlier in the summer. It's left me in pretty much constant pain up here, but I'm still enjoying the week. Today I just sat on a hill reading my book, looking out at the lake, and jumping into the pool when it got too hot. Now that's MY idea of a relaxing vacation day. The kids and hubby went rock climbing. Needless to say, with my back issues, I did not!
We have a huge jacuzzi in the condo that I think I'm going to soak in tomorrow to try and relax my back. It's worth a try.
I used to like to go down to the dock by the lake, but then last year I discovered that we have these ginormous "dock spiders" here, and I have a spider phobia, so the dock thing is not so appealing anymore. Up here there are lots of other options though.
I cashed in some Air Miles for a $100 gift certificate I was planning on using at the spa up here, but prices there have skyrocketed, and there is NOTHING under $100. What the hell?! I know I could just pay the difference, but I think their prices are out of line. Instead, I'm going to treat the kids and I to a dinner out at a nice restaurant here our last night. And maybe have a drink or two at the pool bar! Frozen banana daiquiris. Mmmmm.
On a different note, my kids went to Fan Expo in Toronto last Saturday and my daughter met John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness of Torchwood and Doctor Who). I didn't know she was going to line up to meet him, so it was a surprise. An even bigger surprise was the Torchwood graphic novel (comic book sized) she bought for me which, when I opened it up, had a personalized autograph from John and even a Happy Birthday (my birthday's next month). So, I was pretty excited (to put it mildly). She said she was going to keep it for my birthday, but she was too excited about it and couldn't wait. So, it'll go right next to my autographed picture of ASH. I am a happy, happy, gal!
