Multiple injections to the face does not a happy Ellen make.

Over the past few days, there's been this pimplish thing on my face, and when it started doing unpimplish things I went to the doctor. Turns out it's probably drug-resistent Staph, hanging out runder my left eye in a location that osteo-Patrick likes to call "The Infectious Triangle of Death". Or something, he has a lot of impressive titles for things that I never remember.  A day, two courses of IV antibiotics, two other courses of antibiotics, small surgical incision, and many hot compresses later, I am nothing if not pitiful. I'm still going to work, because I don't feel bad enough to stay at home and mope, and because the doctor seemed to thing rabid hand-washing would shield my co-workers. This morning, when all three antibiotics converged on my system at once, I was a small quivery lump. Feeling better now, though, although I'm hoping I don't have this particular strain of the bug. I probably don't, since I still have a face =).
But yeah, anaesthetic injections right under my eye were pretty disturbing. Almost makes me wish I asked the doctor to do it without local pain relief, but that process would probably have been more uncomfortable overall. I just want the swelling to go down; it's worrying me, because the socket under my eye is affected, and I'd like to keep my sense of perspective (such that it is). The special activity of the day is to mop the apartment down with Clorox when I get home from work.

Elliott's trip to Kentucky started yesterday, so I also get no coddling. Oh teh tragedy, oh teh epic whining.

epic battles, illness
