I was never a devoted fan of Black Books, but I remain a devoted fan of second-hand bookshops (a.k.a. used bookshops elsewhere) and seek them out wherever I may find myself.
Over the weekend, I discovered that the Crows Nest second-hand bookshop in Hamilton central was closing in November - they're coming to the end of their lease, and an end of an era. I arrived in Hamilton in 1990, and the Crows Nest has remained a favourite place to visit both for their bookshelves of possibilities and the amusing quote they've always had outside the shop.
It's the possibilities that draw me into second-hand bookshops. What may lie within that's newly arrived, what have I missed in past visits while scanning the shelves for certain authors, what may I end up taking home, what's to be found in the newly found store?
