kris left this morning for seattle. this has given me the chance to secretly go through her rather large collection of CDs, and has more than tripled my CD collection, giving me access to 3 White Stripes albums, as well as a plethora of Elliott Smith, Suzanne Vega, Belle and Sebastien, Modest Mouse, Woven Hand, DMB, Led Zeppelin, as well as many many others that i have yet to listen to and appreciate.
my world has just been made into a small kind of heaven
except my ipod is WAY too small for all this music, and that makes me cry inside
i also started reading Twilight today. it sucks and isn't worth it. reasons why Twilight sucks so far:
the dialogue is unnatural
poor progression from place to place / scene to scene
awkward / obvious interaction between characters
one long sob story about bella when, in point of fact, her life doesn't really suck
bella whining about how plain and awkward she is and then suddenly she turns out to be beautiful and special, just apparently overlooked (WOW, we never saw THAT one coming, that isn't an overdone theme in every sappy teen novel)
awkward sexual tension between bella and edward
edward is basically creepy
so far, almost half way through the book, there is no plot, just bella going to school and developing a crazy schoolgirl crush on edward
overall, it reminds me of something i would have written in middle school, all poorly planned plot, bad foresight, unrealistic, awkward characters and dialogue, and steeped in the illusions and dreams of middle school girls.
and really, it's just sort of boring. nothing much happens, and the obvious, lame dialogue keeps making me roll my eyes and stop reading for five minutes at a time.
