i have been reminded of my duty to post as least somewhat regularly (vanessa, i love you, even if it is only cyber-love), and, well, i think i need to write more non-scholarly material in order to maintain some shred of sanity this semester.
i'm finally graduating this year; it only took me six years!
i'm taking 17 units this semester, three of which are for a "Global 18th Century" course in which we research, well, global happenings in the 18th century from a literary, historical, and anthropological perspective. if it sounds highly un-interesting then you're probably right, but it's an invitation-only class (i'm smart!), we're writing an anthology, and we're publishing book reviews. oh, did i mention we're going to india in janurary for 3 weeks, all expenses paid except plane tickets?
seeing as this is only one class in a 17 unit semester, i figure i'll need to rant much more in the following months.
also, i'm still tutoring english and esl at occ, but have started a program called "freshman experience" this semester where i am a personal tutor for an english 099 class. the hope is that these same students will continue with the same instructor (donna barnard. i <3 her) for eng 100 next semester with the same tutor - me!
that's an update on all of the boring stuff. interesting/juicy stuff to come...
