5 Things on a Friday

1. The Petty Dictator and I are now the Runaway Pet Magnets in our neighborhood. We've corralled and returned three wayward dogs this week alone--Riley Mac, the beagle (twice); Cute But Mysterious Brown and White Dog Who Belongs to the Neighborhood Hermit, and Toby the terrier. Each of the dogs showed up in our backyard ready to play with the Dictator, who was happy to oblige (and truthfully, I was happy, too--the Dictator requires an awful lot of attention). Everyone was sent home safely.

2. Last night, Fab Husband played with Singer/Songwriter Friend (one half of Perpetually Late Couple) at the Sweetwater Cafe in downtown Boston. I went in the role of Supportive Wife and Groupie. A very intoxicated Anna Nicole Smith lookalike kept requesting reggae. Lots and lots of reggae. S/SF doesn't play reggae. Neither does Fab Husband. Perhaps in retaliation for playing "Black" by Pearl Jam instead of Bob Marley, Anna Nicole ate the French fries that Singer/Songwriter Friend had ordered for after his set. She doesn't know him. She didn't know whose they were. She just ate them. Ick.

3. Congratulations are in order for jbknowles. She just sold her second book to Candlewick! YAY!! Stop by her lj and give her a virtual high-five.

4. I get to do two Majorly Fun Events this weekend! Tonight, it's off to the movies (I can't remember the last time I went) to see 1408 with John Cusack (a Stephen King story on screen AND Lane from "Better Off Dead?" or Lloyd from "Say Anything?" Heaven.) Tomorrow, we're heading north to New Hampshire for a friend's barbecue and a trip to a minor league baseball game. We're going to see the Manchester Silkworms play. Yep. Silkworms. An intimidating mascot if I've ever heard of one.

5. As promised, a belated photo of Burrito Grande (formerly New Nephew). This was taken two weeks ago, when he was 5.5 months old...and 22 lbs. And 31 inches long. He wasn't feeling so hot, hence the teary eyes and red cheeks.

Have a great weekend!
