Well, it has been a long time since I've posted here. I just have to say how fantastic it is to be in the warm heat, shorts and t-shirts in November and a heated outdoor pool waiting..... and the cactus all around is just incredible. I've been out this way before (to AZ ) but never this far south. Just amazing. Zuzu loves the dry heat - no sweaters to wear and she hasn't shivered since we were in Missouri.
I am just ELATED at the political environment here. Not only did the folks of AZ vote down the hate that so many wanted to write into this state's constitution against gay marriage, but the House and Senate will soon be taken over by the Dems. This means inquiries into Georgie W's behavior as well as the other corrupt Reps... I can't wait to see how GW will now have to actually do some real WORK. And he thought the presidency was tough even when Congress was Rep. dominated.
Now even in MA the legislature is refusing to approach the issue of putting same sex marriage up to a public vote on the 2008 ballot. They keep putting off the issue until later and later. This makes the Mormon governor quite mad - even moreso now that they didn't actually "end" their session making it impossible for him to use his gubernatorial powers to put them back into their session until the same sex marriage ballot measure is attacked. None of the legislatures in MA who were against gay marriage got re-elected and ALL of the legislators in MA who are FOR gay marriage got elected. What a great month it has been so far.
Tomorrow is Patch's 30th. I've baked a cake, made some sangria, and have the meat ready to bbq by the pool tomorrow afternoon - the forcast is for 82 degrees and sunny. Go figure. It just won't be the same without our friends and family, but, at least the new crowd from the hospital here is going to help us celebrate. Of course this does make me feel old myself, but, yeah I know, this isn't about me.
