It's this kinda shit that disgusts me. Oh, science is now cool, but SCIENCE FICTION isnt. Writers and directors still have to "stealth" their sci-fi elements just to get shit published or produced. And now formally well respected writers such as Neal Stephenson are becoming pop culture lap-dogs just so they can make more money and get pigeonhold, as it were, into one gener? He has lost a lot of respect from me doing that kinda shit. Go ahead, be ashamed of the genre that made you who you are and push aside the readers who gave you all that money. Fuck you.
I'm also a little shocked, because even with these poorly written, mainstreamed "sci-fi" shows on network tv such as Lost and Heroes, it still seems that the average retarded American isnt ready to use their brain TOO much when watching television. Because as much as I dont want to admit it, BSG has good ratings, not great ones. Even a show of that superb quality still isnt enough to allow sci-fi to be completely accepted.
