Yeah, I finally caved and signed up to twitter, because in case you haven't guessed I'm really shit at updating this thing. Don't worry, I'm still an LJ junkie and am on every day to check my flist, but while I'm going my PGCE I'm too busy for indepth posts all the time so I'm going to have my tweets posted on here as well (twitter name is also boro_babe). But while I'm here I might as well talk. PGCE is going well, for my masters level assignment on the use of talk and interaction in the primary classroom I somehow managed to get 78% which is ironic since the highest I ever got on an undergraduate essay in my specialty is 71%! I'm starting to think I'm actually quite good at this teaching malarky. Have finished my five week placement which went well, taught 3 days a week which was exhausting but ace but fuck there's a lot of paperwork, and so much planning! Next week am doing an EAL placement and a lead literacy placement then have a month more of lectures before a break, then a ten week placement then believe it or not I'm a qualified teacher, responsible for the youth of today and questionable young minds!
Have decided that afterwards I'm definitely doing a masters since in the very distant future I hope to lecture in education, not to mention it will help my promotion prospects. It's two years part time and I'm going to specialise in research in literacy and curriculum analysis. And who knows if I'm good at it I might be offered funding for an ED.D, although Dr. Glindon sounds just plain wrong. But first I need to decide what to write for my second masters piece of work (it does make the undergraduate work more of a drag); I'm very much specialising in literacy and can't decide between the impact of social deprivation on reading or the teaching of writing to children with English as an additional language.
In other news, Boro are shite but I love them anyway.
