Got my first taste of material science today...if you could call it that. I had a run in with copper Elkonite. It's used as tooling welders due to its amazing durability and other unique properties that enable it to withstand the abuse from arc welders. I'm sure that's boring to almost everyone that reads this, but I though it's deceptive density property was pretty interesting. The Elkonite was shipped in a box that contained six 1/4'' thick by 8'' long by 3'' wide sheets. it's density comes in at about 18 g/cm^3. It's heavy...really heavy for its size
...another interesting feature, one of those sheets cost over $500.
On another note, A pontiac Grand Prix two door GTP has an economy right around 30 mpg on the highway...
