I think "skeptical" is a good word to describe how I feel about this plan, chiefly because these religious extremists don't only exist in Afghanistan. We are, just like back in the Vietnam era, fighting ideology against ideology. Two sovereign nations are clearly at war. Both Russia and are guilty of human rights violations, so I'm reluctant to take sides. Meanwhile people suffer and die in South Ossetia, so shame on both nations for not finding a better way to fix the dispute over the area.

It's a shit storm all around. All we can do is watch, I'm afraid.

This is an awesome post.
