I really should have gone with Fred to the vet this morning. I would have been a little more pushy about getting answers. Generally I can balance bitchiness with wide-eyed, cute concern and win vets over to providing me with more information than normal. I had to open the office today, though, so that didn't happen. And no, it's not Fred's fault at all. He's a wonderful dear that got up early to take my cat to the vet.
The vet will let us know what is going on after the blood work is done, but he's thinking it's either thyroid or kidney related. She does also have a minor and common virus (Fred can't remember the name) that caused a lesion on her tongue. The vet apparently had nothing really to say about the nasty breath and drool, other than "I've smelled worse," but that may have been virus related is my guess. The rest of her nasty smell is simply due to her not bathing, which I already knew.
From what Fred has said, I don't like this guy. I'll reserve judgement for the time being until I speak with him myself.
Round One: $200
ouch.
