I went downstairs this morning to discover a headless bird on the kitchen floor, courtesy of Arya. Happy Friday!

My poor cats! This morning at 4am we woke up to hear a loud growling and shrieking. It was our cats, fighting with one of the neighborhood cats, upstairs in the corridor. Crap! It's been accepted. I didn't think it would, but now I have to speak for 15 minutes in front of strangers about the use of human body parts in magic. I'm scared shitless. I hate public speaking.

I have a rosetta stone. Her name is Marie Jacinth de Botidoux, and she wrote a series of letters to Martha Jefferson from 1789 to 1810. I'm translating these for a professor, and I just made a breakthrough. Whoo hoo! I'm understanding it, no more problems, dont feel like a dunce anymore. Hooray!

This city is a treasure trove of historical artifacts. Today I held in my hands a printed 1792 version of King George III's proclamation on setting duties on the colonists' imports and exports. I got casted in the TV show I tried out for! Whoo hoo! Not as one of the principal roles or anything, but still. In other good news, my prof gave me the first 30 pages of these French letters I get to translate from 1789! So excited. Whoo hoo!
