She is always so careful around him, like he's an idol and she must not bother him. women are supposed to be seen but not heard

Lol, literally- wasn’t her entire role in a few books just to walk in, squeak at the sight of Harry and blush furiously before scurrying away? She has this whole deferential air around him that would be so unhealthy in a relationship. *shakes head*

[What I love about my Castle OTP is that Beckett was actually a huge fan of Castle, she’s a total fangirl, and yet that doesn’t come across in their interactions- she doesn’t make concessions for him, she doesn’t let his charm and good looks and fame sway her, she acts like normal and totally professional around him, which makes it extra hilarious when rare moments of her fangirl side pop up!]

she changed her whole demeanor to make herself into what her idea of what Harry wanted was. the girl she became later, all her personality "growth" it was all for Harry

It was kind of hilarious how Ginny acting stuck-up and superior to everyone and turning into a huge bully was supposed to show her newfound worthiness to be the Chosen Girlfriend. So many scenes she’s in, it’s about her putting people down or casting hexes on them for no reason at all, and this shows how she’s so ‘feisty’ and ‘spirited’.

the woman thinks to make a girl fall in love with a guy you need to assassinate her character

I was already dubious about her ideas of romance but the moment I gave up the attempt to find any hidden worth behind her version of shipping was in HBP when Hermione Confunds Cormac so that Ron can get onto the team. I was just so disgusted that Hermione, a PREFECT, who’s always spouted the school rules and only broken them when the fate of the world was possibly at stake, would so blithely disable another student to give her love interest an unfair advantage.

Everyone goes on about Slytherins being no-good, rotten, manipulative cheats, and yet none of them ever tried to hex someone over Quidditch- let alone their own House-mate!

I've shipped all these pairings before, the friends that fight a lot, the shy little girls with a long going crush, the May/December, all of them, but the way Rowling wrote them it was shit, crap, no thanks

IKWYM. Especially the shy little girl thing, I usually like that trope, the moment of vindication when finally the object of the crush realizes she’s perfect for him is so squeeful, but in JKR’s hands- total tripe.

Who are your May/December pairing/s?

Omg, Remus/Tonks…that came out of nowhere and just bombed terribly. What makes it worse is that JKR only hooked them up so that Tonks could reproduce and leave behind an orphan baby to symbolize the Tragedy of War.

Though as over at deathtocapslocks put it: ‘What's funny is that because there's no actual war the author is reduced to creating her orphan by having a new mother chase her husband into a melee’ *eyeroll*

sorry but showing a couple scenes in the end because she only had a book and a half left to pair them up is not enough

How random was it?! Ron almost dies and that’s what inspires the shippiness? If such drastic measures are called for, well, that’s a bit tragic. Ron should pay someone to mortally injure him periodically to reaffirm Hermione’s love for him. *shakes head*

her excuse was that we didn't get to see everything because the books were written from Harry's POV but what about Harry/Ginny then?

ITA. Especially post-COS, I thought we’d have some bonding over ‘nearly being killed by Voldemort’, instead he actually forgets about what happened to her, as per his tactless comment in OotP! That’s one scene where I liked Ginny, the brisk way she shut him down there, lol. Ass.
