I hope everyone had great holidays. Welcome to all the new people!
Vacation was great-I went to Burgundy with all the family, and had a very nice Christmas. And for once, we had snow on Christmas day! I have been fantasizing about this since I was a kid, and I'm still extremely satisfied. The snow is melting now, unfortunately, just before I have to go back to work again.
Today is the epiphany, and in France at least, we have a special kind of cake, called "frangipane" in which a small figurine is hidden, and the person who has the slice with it the king or queen. This year, I was the queen!
Once the king/queen is crowned, the joke is to scream "le roi boit" (the king drinks) or "la reine boit" very loud and fast and over again when the king/queen is drinking, to try and get him to stop drinking. Now, my father gets startled easily, but this time jumped so much when the rest of the family started screaming, that I inhaled the water I was drinking. They won this time, I stopped. :)
