I feel like they've at least introduced the element of choice to his arc. Oh, that's interesting. I didn't get that sense, to be honest. I think the last scene played really ambiguously to me--I thought maybe it had kind of 'turned' him once and for all? I guess if we see him wandering around and being normal again next week then that will be debunked and yes, in that case it will be interesting to see what decisions he makes in light of the information he now has. I do hope it plays out that way.
If both (a) and (b) are true, then Tess isn't on Clark's side and further more, she should know that Clark would think that as well. Oh, but I rather thought she was implying to Clark that she's not as loyal to Lex. *We've* seen her behind the scenes loyalty but he hasn't, and she was suggesting that she might make a different decision to Lex. I think we will see her try a different tack, but I'm fine with her on this one for now because I think that's the sort of argument that doesn't work immediately, and Tess knows that. That's why reiterating it over time and not appearing threatening, consistently, is important.
Oh, I'm glad you liked Oliver's role in this aspect! I thought they used him well and he gave such great advice. (Though I don't really think he meant *only* the Fortress regarding the crystal--it was more of a blanket 'I am just a human, I don't touch stuff that could hurt me' comment--and that's sensible because any of those talismans, rocks, crystals or bits and pieces have been dangerous to humans in the past.)
