I think that Sookie was grieving so much for her grandmother that she was willing to do a lot with Bill that had previously turned her off. Perhaps at that moment, in her grief, she liked the idea of belonging to someone, especially someone who can't die. (Well, not very easily!)

I wonder if the uncle did some serious molesting, not just what we saw in the flashback.

I'm getting pretty tired of the vampire blood addiction plotline. I hope it pays off in a way that makes the many scenes of Jason trying to get a fix worth it.

I'm a little upset that Tara saw the dog and then Sam was right inside, because I thought Sam would be the dog. But maybe it wasn't supposed to be so much of a literal translation as a hint that he's a werewolf and the dog is his.. friend? I dunno.

Nice idea! I had expected it to go in a different direction with her having a death wish, but I like your argument.

Mmm, I don't think so because Sookie said it wasn't as bad as what some girls had experienced and they could have easily used that line from her to hint more deliberately that we'd only seen the tip of the iceberg. But it's possible.

Oh, I just want to see him get the comeuppance he deserves. I'm not quite out of patience yet because I quite enjoy the trippy effects and the handling but I will get tired of it if it doesn't move somewhere else soon.

I thought Sam would be the dog.I think that was debunked in ep 2 or 3 where we saw Sam pat the dog and call it 'brother'. So I think there is a connection ( ... )

I'd love to be as sanguine (haha) about Bill not having been in the house but he is only credited as being is 7 or 8 eps according to (the very often wrong, but worryingly not always so) imdb, which is making me VERY jittery.

Otherwise pretty much with you on the rest. Including cute little werewolf Sam. And Tara, god, she is such a fantastic character...

I do like how Sookie's dealt with the whole thing though (and we got a vamp sex scene with her and Bill, woohoo, that was fun).

Sigh. Another week to wait... ack!

Not that I had any sympathy for the child-molesting Uncle, but I was a little thrown when Bill *murdered* him. I'm surprised they went there with his character, and I'm not sure that it's a direction I particularly like.

I really liked the exorcist storyline for Tara and her mother. The thing is, this show has established the existence of things outside the normal realm - so there is some support for the possibility that there was an actual demon, and that it has been exorcised. However, there is always the more realistic scenario of Tara's mother being "cured" simply because she believes that much - a placebo effect. I kind of like the ambiguity of the entire situation.

I do think that Tara had previously verbalized about her mother's non-compliance in getting any sort of help or treatment for her problems. Getting her into a facility would be nearly impossible without her consent as long as she's still coherent enough to refuse treatment and isn't causing harm to herself or others.

Oh yes, totally! I have had the feeling for a long time that there's a dark side to Bill that they will only show us once we're well and truly hooked on his character. ;) I kind of expected it to come out after sex with Sookie but not in *this* way. I think we got a sneak peak of it when he glamoured that police officer.

Same. I like that it works on both levels.

Well she's coherent enough to refuse, but I felt she was causing harm to Tara when she threw stuff at her, and she seemed to be very close to violence in the bank if Tara had not shown up.

I liked the exorcism scene too, for its grey areas, because we as viewers couldn't be *sure* whether it was real or not. Nothing flashy. And we could see Tara clinging to her skepticism; its her strength. We see the scene through her eyes (and in a world where vampires exist, demons might. So who knows?). You're right though, real or not, her mother believed it so she needed it. Her desperation, and manipulation because of it, was just so painful. We'll just have to see if the 'demon' is truly gone.

I giggled during the fishing scene and Sam running naked through the woods. Terry's shrug of "I've done that" as nothing untoward was just hysterical. *g*

True! (Though it totally sounds like an excuse!) And yes, I'm in suspense to see if Tara's mother is really cured.

Terry's response to Sam streaking was wonderful--it seemed so true. There was I thinking he was about to see something related to the burning of the vamps' hideout, and no, it was just a false alarm!

Yay I can finally join the party because I watched TB tonight.

I liked that she stood up for herself so much. She's a tough little thing and having made her decision, I'm glad she had no regrets. The only thing that made me sad is that grief for her grandmother appeared to be completely swept away.
I didn't notice the marked change in Sookie I was hoping for (I was sure that the innocence lost allusions last week were really going to point to a more mature, sadder but wiser Sookie), but I did like that she stood up to Sam when he grabbed her neckerchief thing off. I was also surprised they didn't give her a little more time to mourn Gran's death. She was so about the afterglow, I almost wondered if she remembered Gran at all.

I really felt like her mum should be admitted after that bank incident...I know what you mean. That scene seemed to hint strongly that Tara was going to have to call someone to carry her away. Just the look on Tara's face ( ... )

I think we did--subtly. And I'm personally glad that we didn't get a marked change because I would have found that hard to believe. But I liked her manner in the bathtub scene, for instance--that felt real and more mature than the melodrama of the actual consummation.

I did have that issue re. the grandmother as well but I liked the point that someone made above about Sookie wanting to bury her grief and loneliness in belonging to someone else.

I'm glad you are liking Tara now and finding the actress as good as I am--I agree, she's putting in a very layered performance and I want her and Sam to work it out.

God there was a lot of nakedness in this episode. HA! The first three weeks I kept wondering around saying/thinking 'there's a lot of sex. really. a LOT of sex'. Yeah, the actors must be very trusting and/or have been clear about what they were getting into. ;) I'm particularly amused by the actor who plays Jason since he ( ... )
