Remembering

Nov 11, 2010 11:00

I'm barely conscious right now. The last ten days have been extremely unpleasant physically, and, while I feel infinitely better, I am nowhere near back to 'functional'. My body has taken a new and crappy approach to expressing its' displeasure with my stress levels. I will not go into details here, because it's unpleasant, and, frankly, thinking about it makes my stress levels go up. Sigh.

But, it is November 11, and it is time to remember those who have served, those who are currently serving, and those who will choose to serve in the future.

This is the first time in 20 years that I've missed the big memorial service and parade. I am saddened by that, but I am going to try my damndest to at least see some of the parade and wreath-laying from my window (since I literally can see the cenotaph from here).

...To you from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high.

The bells toll, it is time to honour my ancestors, and their sacrifices both large and small.
Lest we forget, my friends.
