SO realizing what its like to be vegan in the rest of the world is not fun. but it has made me appreciate portland food, and food in general. i'm so fucking starving by every time i eat somtehing here that it tastes like the best thing in the world... even though my diet has consisted of every single day: cereal or toast, PBj with fruit, and very plain pasta or rice thing for dinner. every day. there are no vegan donuts, there are no fuckin vegan blts or sushi or orange chicken or soy macchiatos. oh no sirs. man all that sounds so good.
finally went to the climbing gym today. it sucked. but was free. felt good to pull on shit even though we had to make up our own problems on the three tiny walls.
denmark is incredible. if you are a student and you live wth your parents, you get 4300 kroner a month, just for being a student! about double that if you live by yourself. to put in perspective, a kollegium room, where most students live is roughly 2000 a month, a nice apartment in the city would be about 4000. a homeless person makes between 6000 and 8000 a month. any school is free to begin with, even graduate programs such as medical and law school, as is healthcare. they have 65 per 100,000 persons in prison, whereas the states has roughly 745 per 100,000. its expensive and taxes are atrocious, but everyone seems to appreciate where they live. they have to be doing something right.
i bought a bottle of jameson last night when the internet was down and i had no homework, and had one drink before i went to bed. i thought it would help me sleep but instead i just got sad and started looking at pictures. i miss my brother.
