This election, Rudd will win the election by 2 seats. We won't know the final result until Thursday. In time, a number of by-elections will be held as Coalition members, backbenchers and frontbenchers jump ship. Howard will bow out in 12months. Peter Costello will take the reigns. I think Rudd will win 2010. Beyond that I'm not sure, but I think at some point Brendan Nelson or Tony Abbott will try their hand at the Coalition leadership.
As for what how the electorate will be disappointed by a Rudd Government - the left will be disappointed there isn't enough attention and compassion given to refugees and Indigenous Australians. Rudd will also backdown on certain issues, possibly nuclear energy and the phasing out of the coal industry, or uranium exports. This will also disappoint the left. No doubt the unions will be gagged to an extent, this will also annoy. The right will be frustrated by the end of workchoices and the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. I think the 2010 election will be fought over national security.
What do you think?
