We rarely get winter storms here that are labeled "life threatening."
It seems this one is going for broke to earn that title. And it's going to affect a huge portion of the U.S.
PLEASE, Everyone, take this storm seriously and take proper precautions. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill Midwestern storm. This thing is a monster.
**Bring your pets indoors!! The wind chill is going to be deadly.
**Have plenty of food and water on hand.
**Be ready for power outages.
**Keep all warm blankets and clothing to hand.
**Look after your neighbors and the elderly, whether you're close to them or not.
**Be careful with indoor space heaters. We've had at least two or three reports of house/building fires in our region already due to those things.
**Keep your cellphone charged in case you have an emergency.
**Stay off the roads if you can.
The snow doesn't bother me as much as the wind and the dangerous cold does. It's not to be taken lightly.
