No.
No, no....just no. Don't go there.
The new addition is my mom!! Mom joined LiveJournal today as it's newest blogger! Her username is
pafarmergirl. If you'd like to add her as a friend and follow her posts, I'm sure she would love to meet you. She has just an introductory post up for now, but she's working on more.
Daddy (
threewheeler3w) has got his first post up along with an old family picture! He's such a cute little booger, sitting on his mama's knee. :) Grammy is so young and sweet in the picture, and Grandpa looks very handsome in his Army uniform. I believe this was taken just before he was shipped out to the Pacific to begin the occupation after WWII. I knew that Daddy was drafted into the Vietnam War, but I'd forgotten that Grandpa was drafted into WWII. He was married with three kids when he had to leave. That had to be very difficult for him and Grammy. I just can't imagine.
My Dave got some happy news today. He got confirmation that he will be going to Tijuana, Mexico with our church's mission team next summer to help feed the needy, build houses for them, and provide other services they need. He is thrilled! He's been eating, drinking, and sleeping Mexico ever since he submitted his request to go. Dave has such a servant's heart; he's always helping people in need in addition to helping with the small fry at church and working at the local youth center. This is going to be a great opportunity for him!
Ed is feeling much more like himself these days. He went to the guitar shop in Vicksburg to work on instruments today...first time in a month. He's tired but very happy. He's really missed it. At home he's been picking up his guitar a lot more in the evenings just to pick a tune. That's more like my hubby! It's great to see him getting back to feeling right again.
In light of another big snow coming our way, I went out to Wal-Mart today for groceries and supplies. It was just crazy in there! Their computer glitched as I was trying to pay with a check, so I had to pull everything out of my cart and re-ring it all. What a hassle! But there was a small blessing to come from that. My second total rang up $3 short of what the first total came to, and the cashier didn't want to be bothered searching for that $3 item, so I got it for free...whatever it was. :)
I made homemade lasagna for supper tonight. I like to use the no-cook noodles, as the lasagna holds together better. My version has sauteed onion and Italian sausage in the layers, as well as dressed-up ricotta with dried herbs and garlic powder. And since we had some in the fridge, I included some sliced Provolone cheese. The guys loved it. Making it homemade is not much more difficult than buying the frozen version, and mine doesn't have all the salt and preservatives in it. Not to mention it just plain tastes better! With it I served a salad mix of kale and spinach. The opinion on the kale was mixed, but I liked it. It's a nice change from regular salad mix, and those greens contain lots of iron, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C.
That's really about all there is to my little update today. Nothing brainy, momentous, or even opinionated. Just a slice of my very ordinary day. I am very excited to have my parents here, though. I hope they will enjoy the experience of blogging.
So until tomorrow.....
