saved from the Jaws of Death--literally

On September 26 there was a typhoon that hit Manila..and guess what??? Our house got hit by the flood. The water was up to the ceiling and we evacuated to the attic, where we waited and waited for the rain to stop and the water to go down--it took 18 hours. We were literally about 2 feet from drowning...if the rain did not stop and water quit rising.
It was like being on the Titanic[LOL]What surprised me how cool and calm I was. There we sat waiting to die....it sure makes one think...........anyway everything was destroyed in the house so we are back to square one as far as material things. We got some help from friends with furniture and food....anyway it was a real eye opener to say the least. Now we are fighting boils and diahrrea and fatigue from the ordeal and the cleaning tha has lasted 10 days so far--still have some cleaning left............now I know how it was for those folks in New Orleans and what they went through....luckily we had bout 10 liters of drinking water the day of the flood...before it hit---the scary part was that there was no warning so nobody really expected the water to rise that high.........will comment more later...back to cleaning.
