So, I finally saw Guys and Dolls. Unfortunately, Harmony did not get to go with me because she couldn't afford it. What happened was I bought two tickets because I thought she wanted to go. I am amazed that I even got two tickets because it was supposed to be sold out. I was taken to a department store called Selfridge's in London and they had a ticket selling booth. They took down my number and said they would call me if any seats were available. Well, they called me the very next morning and said that they had two tickets in Row M seats 1 and 2 and they were £69 each. I was so excited that I said yes. Well, after I found out that Harmony couldn't go I was freaking out and I told them to try and sell the tickets because I couldn't afford to pay for both (that's about $240). Well, they didn't end up selling them, so I went down to London by myself the next day to see if I could sell at least one of them. I ended up at the box office really early, so I waited by the stage door. Unfortunately, there were signs everywhere saying that the stars were not going to do stage door signings. People were still waiting outside for Ewan to come in though. After awhile of waiting, I decided to see if my tickets were in yet. They were, and I got the option of giving the other one to the box office and having them try to sell it for me. They did end up selling it afterall! So after I got my tickets I went back to the stage door and it was around 7.00. The bodyguard finally told us that Ewan gets there at 5.30 every day and that we already missed him. I was chatting with the bodyguard alot while waiting for my tickets, so he said he would do me a favor. I had a permanent marker and a Guys and Dolls flyer that I gave to the bodyguard and he said he would ask Ewan before he left to sign them for me. I wanted to meet Ewan, but I thought this was the 2nd best chance of getting anything good while I was there. So I gave the bodygaurd (Thompson) my cell phone number in case I couldn't get ahold of him right after the show. It was time to go inside and sit, and at this point I didn't know whether the ticket was sold or not. Well, my seat was actually really close to the stage and well worth the money. I was still a little freaked out though and depressed about all the money I was losing. Finally at about 7.30 (when the show actually started), someone sat in the seat next to me. I was so happy that I shook her hand and thanked her profusely. She turned out to be an American student, just like me, and she was studying theatre. We talked a bit about Otherwise Engaged, the other play that we both saw. I was so happy that I had my money back that I bought the special edition Guys and Dolls program with photos. Photos were prohibited during the show :(. So anyways, the show started and it took awhile for Ewan to get on stage. But I hadn't seen him yet, so I was really excited. He did an excellent job. He really can sing pretty well in person and he did a really funny New York Accent. He wasn't alone in faking it, because all of the other actors were British as well. It was really cute, and he actually did a very good job at the accent. My favorite part was when he sang "Luck Be A Lady". The girl was so lucky because she got to kiss him three times in one night, and they've been doing the show for many nights. After the show, they all did curtain bows and I attempted to get some pictures but they probably are not going to show up when developed. So did I eventually get Ewan's autograph and was all well?...part II coming later :)
