How bout them Bruins?
On Saturday I went to Staples Center with my dad to catch the Pac-10 Tournament Finals against Stanford. It was a tough, low-scoring battle; UCLA eventually built a 10 point lead with 2:47 to play, and then withstood a furious Stanford rally to hold on for the win. It's tournament time -- Pac 10 Conference Tournament time, that is. After work today, I'm heading down to the Staples Center with Sameer to check it out. Unfortunately, my evening session tickets only get me into Oregon v. Washington State (6:30pm) and Stanford v. Arizona (8:00pm), so I guess I'll be rooting for the Cardinal. TV Thursdays
I have been enjoying my Thursday evenings for the past couple of months. They start around 7:30 pm with UCLA basketball, and then around 9 pm I switch over to ABC and catch the latest episode of LOST! So UCLA blew out an over-matched George Washington team tonight (and they were not actually that bad -- a perennial Tournament team in fact.) Nothing was really at stake, but it's great to see the Bruins play again. Collison returned from his knee injury none worse for the wear, and Aboya was back to normal after fracturing a bone beneath his eye ( Read more... ) -

UCLA to the Elite Eight, baby.
Last night the Bruins handily defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers, 64-55, in a game in which the outcome was never really in doubt. While the Bruins never really put the game beyond reach, they did such a superb job on defense that Pitt never really found its rhythm, shooting a miserable 36.4% from the field.
