I just happened to check out gesiquea's LJ today, and she reminded me that I have not updated my journal in forever!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about Kenobi :( but gesiquea has a kitty!! how cute!!!

I got a job with Girls Inc. here in Rapid in September. I'm a "Child Development Specialist Tutor." It's a mouthful. Girls Inc. is an after school program, like a girl's club, only of course it's better. The grils are ages 5-17. :) I am in charge of the Tutoring program. I try to get as many girls tutored that need it. I'm also in charge of the daily homework help session. I sometimes have 39 kids in the library at about the same time asking for my attention and help. CHAOS!!! It's kind of wierd to be helping one girl in Algebra, and then, right next to you, be able to help the girl struggling with her reading at the same time. I feel like an octopus. I also do a reading club, journaling, poetry, and bring in local authors and musicians all for each age group. So, I'm basically some combination of reading teacher, special ed teacher, and High school math teacher working till 8:30 at night. I could go on and on about my job. I love it and hate it. more tomorrow ;)

Ohh but I have to tell ya about this. Today at work, I went to a training on screening for FAS. It was interesting, but boring. After the training, I went into the office, and noticed a girl with shoulder length, curly brown hair sitting in the little (teeny) reception area. Her head was down and reading a magazine or something, I just figured it was for the interview for the open position at work. The next thing I know, my boss comes up to me in the hallway and looks at me all excited and says "What dirt can you tell me? You know her right?" At first I thought she was talking about the person that they just hired two days ago (a lot of people quit or were fired around the same time). Then she said "Jennifer Berreth" a light went on and my eyes narrowed. She was in two cohorts behind ours, but I ended up in the same student teaching block classes with her. AND she was an RA for a year or so in North campus when I was in Brookman. In block classes she acted like she was better than anyone else and that she was the only one who knew anything. She was the snottiest thing. Last year, they made us create a website from scratch and had 3 "assessment/evaluation" meeting thingies where you and two other students had to present your online portfoilio to each other and three professors. And were evaluated on everything. I spent months on my thing crying over it, not understanding Frontpage. During the final week of student teaching, we had to present our portfolio. Jennifer was in my group. Her webpage has all sorts of bells and whistles, and professional portraits of her, and drop menus the thing was glowing and impressive. I got up to present mine, and some of the stupid pages wouldn't come up. It was pathetic, hideous and I cried afterward. I guess Jennifer is astonished that she has not found a job yet, but it made me chuckle. I'm so evil.

I'm also soo tired.
