Pining for Lost Girl?

So now that I mainlined the entire first season in one weekend, I'm kind of going into withdrawal. Apart from multiple rewatchings in my near future, and the three delightful vid bunnies currently bouncing around in my brain, here is how I plan to survive Lost Girl Hiatus of Doom:

Vids!

Insta-rec for giandujakiss's new vid: Walking on the Sun - So delightful!!! I think I love the Kenzi section the best, but the whole thing is a blast--totally captures all the humor and sexiness of the show. With the bonus slickness and high production value that a vid from giandujakiss promises. Definitely my favorite so far <3 <3 <3

You're My Best Friend by readthesubtext - A Bo and Kenzi are BFFF vid of joy. Totally adorable and fun! I don't ship these two but I love their friendship like crazycakes.

Ladies of Lost Girl by dandiandi22 - Cheesy sexy smirky fun. I could watch Bo being a sexass and Kenzi being goofy allllll day :D

Any others? Rec me some vids! Or better yet--make me one :P

Books!

Charles De Lint - The muthafrakking king of Urban Fantasy (aka 'fantasy for people who don't read fantasy'). I recommend starting with Someplace to be flying, because it does just a spectacular job of weaving fae with mythology and mystery, but pretty much all of his stuff in the Newford!verse is awesome. GAH, he is SUCH A GOOD WRITER!!!

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr - the later bits of her series kind of disappoint, but this first book is a pitch perfect YA fairy urban fantasy. So there's Aislynn, this chick with a wicked hot pierced-up awesome boyfriend, who discovers that the creatures she has always been able to see are fairies. Then she meets this gorgeous and intriguing fairy prince, who desperately needs her help in order to ensure the survival of his court, and a delightful love triangle ensues. This book is everything a YA fantasy romance should be (and everything I wish Twilight had been).

Merry Gentry series by Laurell K Hamilton - non stop pronz: it's seriously an entire series of fuck-or-die for princess-in-hiding Meredith (more specifically "have fairy royal heirs or your crazy evil Aunt will take you out"). Hamilton is not a great writer, but she sure does know how to pack a lot of inventive smut into one book. The fairy court politics are sometimes awesome and sometimes tiring, but I still enjoyed the series on the whole. If you enjoy the sex + batshit crazytimes of True Blood, you'll probably like these books too.

I also rec these two standalones:

TamLin by Pamela Dean - A retelling of a Scottish fairy-tale ballad set at a small liberal arts college in the hippie era 70s. Full of humor, romance, friendships, lit-nerdery and omg-no-way-fairies-can't-be-real-can-they? I love a good plucky heroine who saves the day :D

Impossible by Nancy Werlin - A really compelling interpretation of Scarborough Fair poem where a teen discovers that her family has been cursed because an ancestress spurned an Elvin Knight. A great mixture of contemporary humor and realistic teen fiction with fairy tale and poetry.
