I'm back! Vacation was wonderful. Dad's Spitfire is a fun little car to ride around in. (And it gets us free admission into classic car shows. (: ) I hope he keeps his motivation and gets it working better.
I visited Nana on my way home. She's doing wonderful. I wish I could say the same for Bill. He's deteriorated physically, and mentally too. His memory's going. I feel bad for him, but also for Nana who has to live with and take care of him.
I'm home now. Jasmine seems to have forgiven me, and is happily flaked out on my lap.
And a meme taken from
pembrokewkorgi: List your console & handheld history and your first game/favorite game on each.
- Telstar home pong console. The first game was pong, of course, aka "tennis" on this unit (presumably due to licensing concerns). The favourite was "hockey" because each side got two paddles instead of one.
- Intellivision. First game was Space Armada (the name "Space Invaders" was copyrighted, but the play concept wasn't). Favourite was probably Space Battle. Trivia: My parents tell me I was pulling out my baby teeth for quarters to use in arcades, so they got this for me, used.
- Do home computers count as consoles? If so, the Vic-20 goes here. First game was Mole Attack, favourite was Rat Race. Bonus: it got me into computer programming.
- Ye Olde NES. First game was Super Mario Bros. 2 (we got the console from the shopping channel, so it didn't come with any games). That's probably also my favourite, but with Super Mario Bros. 3 and Faxanadu being very close.
- Again, if computers count, insert the Commodore 64 here. The first game I remember playing was a 3-D Labyrinth style game that Mom entered from a Compute!'s Gazette magazine. Favourite was definitely Wizball.
- Time passes. I'm skipping over my introduction to PCs, since I think that crosses the line even if Commodore machines don't.
- Playstation 2. First game was Okage: Shadow King. Favourite is Sly 3: Honour Among Thieves.
- Nintendo GameCube. (Thanks scottphyrebird!) First game is StarFox Assault. Favourite is Metroid Prime (though technically it's not one I own, I'm borrowing it).
This is in chronological order, though it's not specified that you have to do it that way in the meme. For a sense of scale, we got the Vic-20 when I was five years old.
