I really didn't want to play netball last night. I was tired, I'd been a bit dizzy all day and generally felt fed up. However, there were only seven of us signed up, so I went along.

Woke up with a sneezing fit at five am and eventually decided to put the radio on to lull me off to sleep. Radio 4 is the World Service overnight, so I switched on in time to hear the Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters in joyful celebration as the news came in. Today was a day of random people. Volunteer day meant that our usually quiet site (now we are out of season) bustled with people, and at 10.45 two random and smartly dressed people with strong accents arrived to meet with a person of whom I had never heard.
