It's Monday, isn't it?

This morning started out so well. I woke up. I had some coffee. I got dressed. This is where the morning started downhill, with the getting dressed part.

I thought to myself, "Self, you wear jeans all the time, let's shake that up a bit. Let's wear your cute white pants. Look you even have clean, light-colored underwear! Operation Cool, White Pants is totally a go!" You already know where this is going don't you? You know in your heart that as I write this I'm no longer wearing these pants.

I grabbed all my stuff and jumped into the car with
jumperkid. And almost spilled my coffee all over my pants. EG handed me a cloth to protect my pants and joked that she would drive smoothly. Which she did. Right up to the point where she hit a curb like it had insulted her mother and coffee went EVERYWHERE! It was an explosion of coffee. There was coffee on the windshield, coffee all down the door, coffee all over the dash and coffee all down my right side and around all the way to my ass. I was COVERED in coffee. It was impressive. I couldn't have been that thorough if I'd been trying.

To be fair, EG says I distracted her with tales of boys dressed in suspenders, underwear and nipple rings (I worked the library booth at Pride yesterday so I saw a LOT of that). And I suppose that kind of talk can be distracting at 8 in the morning when you've only had one cup of coffee.

Thankfully I keep a spare pair of jeans at work because I work with children and the odds of having a clothing emergency are pretty high. EG took my poor, no longer white pants home to wash and I set about getting the rest of my day started.

Running slightly late due to the emergency wardrobe change, I hurried into the storytime room and was greeted with the sight of a HUGE wet spot in the carpet, a trashcan slowly filling with water and a steady and continuous drip from the ceiling.

Upstairs meeting room for storytime this morning. God I hate the upstairs room. It's loud and it echos and the a/c is LOUD and all the toddlers have to go upstairs. The added bonus this morning was that none of the chairs were out. So with 15 minutes till Go Time I was frantically hauling chairs around and setting up the room.

I was done with this day by 10AM.

But at least I have clean pants.
