Poem I Wrote At Work

Dec 08, 2006 12:55

I'm paid to smile, & be polite
Be helpful, witty, erudite
I love the Public. I'm a method actor.
I stand until I need a chiropractor.

The Public want a book. They do not know
Who wrote it. It was on the radio
This morning. Did the name begin with S?
"It's new!" They cry, expecting me to guess.

Sometimes, the Public will not meet my eye
With rudeness that I cannot justify
Throw coins across my counter, snatching
Their goods, as if the minimum wage was catching.

They are the ones who feel we are so low
That they must pay, grab bag, & go
So how I'll smile, & how polite I'll be
To people who behave so shabbily.

booksearch, funny, frustrating customers
