Well, it's been a loooooooong time since I've posted, eh? Hockey season is over...CONGRATULATIONS CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS!!! Wooo hoooo! Seeing as how I live with a Blackhawks fan, it made my life a lot happier. :) Plus, I was flying thru O'Hare a couple days before the final so I was able to grab a couple souvies for Heidi and my friend Pam, whose family is from Chicago.
That being said...life has been busy, crazy, and challenging lately. But I've come to a couple of conclusions.
I was thinking about going back to school to FINALLY finish my degree, and a friend said to me, "You don't need any more schooling. You write. So, just WRITE!" She was right (although not having that piece of paper will probably always gnaw at me a little).
So, I joined a writer's group, a local (but prestigious) group here in my city. I haven't yet gone to a class or a meeting, :), but even that I joined is a huge step for me. But I needed to commit myself in some way, to push myself to do something. I took my first baby step, so here we go.
Also- I am trying to re-do my manuscript of "Fire and Ice" for a publisher. I'm excited about it. There's so much I want to change about the story-- I had too many hanging plotlines that never went anywhere--so I am re-working the whole thing.
My other news is, I may take down my previous stories on LJ. If you want them, SAVE THEM NOW. While I love my Jack and Ennis stories, I have moved beyond this, and want to write about what is relevant to my life now. I also worry about copyright infringement (altho I don't have them copyrighted) and theft. But please, feel free to keep copies for your own reading and enjoyment.
My other conclusion is, I want to be happy in doing what I do. I work as a receptionist in a veterinary clinic, and I love it. It's great for me, being the animal lover that I am. But, something felt like it was missing in my life. Heidi went to school to become a massage therapist, and I saw the happiness it gave her and the enthusiasm she had for it, and she just glowed when talking about it. I realized I wanted that glow, too.
Quite a while ago, I did a Google search for becoming a professional organizer. I am probably the only person in the world who likes cleaning out a garage or a storage unit! :) I love getting rid of clutter and organizing what's left. So, I found a website for professional organizers (
www.napo.net) and I am going to take some online classes. I organize everything at work for free (well, I do get paid, but nothing extra for the extra work), so why shouldn't I get paid for it? So I will let you know how it goes. Oh, and do I need to mention I love watching Clean House on the Style network and Hoarders on A&E?
So, writing and organizing are my two goals for right now. I am excited. Wish me luck.
Carol
