I feel like i should know more about this than I do.

Anyone got the skinny on Scholastic Book Fairs? You know, where they set up a display at school (or, as it turns out, daycare) and send home a little catalog? I remember when I was in elementary school, I loved picking out and ordering books, then waiting for them to arrive. Now from a parent's perspective, I wonder about the setup. Are prices different (higher? lower?) than other retail outlets? Does the school get a cut? There seem to be some exclusive titles/formats, but that's hardly a big concern for me.

I figure when my kids are old enough to care, of course they'll be allowed to order from the book fair. But until then, am I better off supporting my local children's bookstore?
