Fourth spell → Voice

I suppose, in light of recent events, it's a good thing I was raised by Muggles and that I've been forced to adapt to this city without my wand. It's given me a bit of a headstart on the others from my world, who can't seem to manage too long without magic. I've been working on renavating a few buildings. One's almost ready to have a few people in it....

If you don't mind lending a hand to get one of the apartments finished, that is.

-=No alchemy is temporary. But one doesn't need alchemy to finish patching up holes in the walls and getting some other minor carpentry things ready.=-

What exactly do you need? I'm sure Ron and Harry wouldn't mind helping me pitch in, as they need to feel useful. [She totally just volunteered her two lazy bffs for construction work. No regrets.]

Elbow grease. All the supplies are there, just need the man power to put it all into place.

-=Ed won't tell!=-

I'll see what we can manage. We may be a bit useless without our magic, but it won't hurt to try.

You're not useless. You just need to learn a different skill set.

-=Because if she was useless, then people with alchemy were, and by far, people without powers are not useless.=-

We would have been more help with our magic, but there's no point fussing over that. We all have working arms and legs, so there's no harm putting them to use.

Nope! Before our teacher would give us Alchemy lessons, we had to survive with just our arms and legs.

Which is just as we had to survive without our wands, though we got them early on.

When did you get a wand?

Eleven. It's when we were sent off the magic school.

Huh. -=Well, most people don't start getting interested in Alchemy until they were teens, right?=-

Oh. Nothing.

I did my first transmutation when I was four. Al did when he was three.

Well, most witches and wizards manage wandless magic when they're young, but it isn't focused, so it tends to be unpredictable and sometimes a bit dangerous. That's why wizarding children are taught not to use magic at all unless they're in school or under strict parental supervision. I remember once, since I was raised by non-magical parents who didn't know about magic until I was accepted into Hogwarts, I'd gotten angry at some neighborhood bullies and unintentionally set a nearby garden hose on them.

-=blinks a bit.=- I would think they'd want to teach earlier if that's the case.

-=then he laughs at the story.=- Oh, that sounds great! Alchemy can't do that. -=But it can open up a side river to drown some bullies.=-

Hogwarts? That's the school, right? If your parents didn't know about magic, how did the school know?

Children are too young to use the proper focus. If a five-year-old tried doing a Shield Charm, he or she might end up being so scared in a given situation that the spell would knock anyone in the general vicinity several feet back, no matter how much the child was taught to keep the magic restrained.

Yes, Hogwarts is the school. And if I said it knew that I was a witch by using 'magic,' would that be a sufficient answer?
