Book 38: Mockingjay

Kelly Thomas = Sadly disappointed :(

I think what I loved most about these books was the action and the conflict, the thought that Katniss was herself and didn't need a man to look after her. In my mind, Suzanne Collins killed this amazing trilogy by killing Katniss' flavor. The best moment (ATTENTION: SPOILER) comes at the very end of chapter 26, when Katniss kills Coin instead of Snow. I didn't need the Epilogue where we see Katniss and Peeta's children. I didn't even need the last chapter, actually, I was just freaking frustrated with the last chapter. I didn't want Katniss to go back to 12 and live out her days, I wanted her to fight for her rights, the right to see her mother, to see Gale, to be her own person, just like she always had. I guess that's what the Capitol does though. It breaks people. Even with the Epilogue that seems to make everything seem better--its like a nightmare, brought on by tracker jacker venom, all shiny and puss like--I have no hope. These books always gave me hope. Bye-bye Mockingjay.
