Changing Major

I'm seriously considering changing my major. As much as I would love to finish my RN, I just don't think it's practical right now. My original plan was to start the night program once Jamie was born so that we wouldn't have to pay for child care while I finished. Unfortunately, Greenville Tech is no longer offering the Nursing program at night. I'd have to go during the day, which means we'd have to pay for someone to watch both kids 20-25 hours a week. Besides probably not being able to afford it, finding someone to watch them part-time is almost impossible (as I found out the last time I was looking.)

Anyway, I was looking at the degree options at Tech, and I'm thinking that Health Information Management looks like a good option. It's still in the health field, so it uses all the classes I've taken so far. Plus it involves computers, health knowledge and attention to detail, which I'm pretty good at. The biggest bonus - they offer all the classes online. It would be up to me if I wanted to do everything online or combine real classes w/ online if it works with my schedule. And anything in health services is pretty much a guaranteed job and should stay that way for awhile.

I would still have options too. I can always keep going and get my Masters in HIM or a related subject if I really enjoy it (which I suspect I will since I enjoy working with data) OR if I decide it's not for me I can go back for my RN when the kids are older, and I shouldn't be too rusty since I'll have been working in the health field the whole time.
