I have the day off today, so I thought I'd take the time to jot some things down here. I'm really trying to remember to post here on a more regular basis, but the time always seems to get away from me. Before I know it, it's been several days, if not weeks, and I haven't posted a thing. Massive fail.
My sister and Riley are doing great. Well, Mandy is still recovering from the C-section, but she is doing well. Riley spends much of her time breastfeeding and sleeping, which is as it should be. We had Connor over yesterday and he was the regularly ball of energy he usually is. I really don't know where that child gets all that energy! He's all over the place. When he took him home, Mandy had a surprise for him. She and Chris had taken Riley out for her first real outing (other than the doctor's office), going to Party City and BabiesRUs. They needed to pick up some things for Connor's birthday party next week. Anyway, Mandy found a cowboy hat at Party City for him. He's having a Toy Story birthday party, which is primarily a Woody party. He instantly took his hat and ran downstairs to ride his toy horse, Bullseye. I told him he was a real cowboy now.
While up at the house, I held Riley for a few minutes. She had the hiccups the entire time. So cute! Who knew hiccups could be so cute?! I told her she had to stop all that drinking.
So, yeah, Connor's birthday is Monday, with his big shindig on Saturday. It's at Mandy's mother-in-law's house, thrown jointly by her, Mandy and Chris, and my mom. My mom ordered this awesome cake from a local bakery. She talked to the woman there and she said it would be no problem to do a cake in the shape of a cowboy hat. Connor will love it. As for gifts, my mom got him a workbench and I got him a toy leafblower. The child is obsessed with yard equipment. He's always pretending things are his leafblower or weedwacker. Whatever floats his boat.
Work has been fine lately other than the uber drama going on. An employee recently quit and decided to crow about it on Facebook, all the while calling us all douchebags and assholes. I should take exception to that, I guess. Normally, I would be highly offended about being called a douchebag and/or asshole. However, it's all been so ridiculously hilarious, I really don't care. Either that or I've just learned to embrace my douchebaggery. How's that for a word?!
Big Brother has been a glorious diversion once again. It's such an insane waste of time, I know, but I just can't help myself every summer. This summer, we've been treated to that enduring, star-crossed love that is Brendan and Rachel, or Brenchel, if you prefer. Alas, Rachel has been evicted with as much drama as humanly possible. On the one hand, I liked her because she was the only female in the house with any sort of brain/spine. But, my lord, was she shrill! And she played way to emotionally, which was her downfall. Brendan is hanging in there without her, but I fear he is not long for the game. Everyone wants him out, which is stupid at this point. He has no allies and has no chance of winning. They have bigger fish to fry, like Matt who never met a lie he didn't perpetrate. He needs to go! But he won't this week. I'm hoping for Kathy, who is just annoying and a complete waste of space.
27 days until my Universal vacation!! I can't wait to go to Hogwarts! I'm such a geek, I know, but I can't help myself. I will say that it is going to be so hard to be in Florida and not go to Disney. I'm a Disney girl at heart, so it's going to be weird to land at the airport and see all those vacationers heading to Disneyworld. Hopefully, we'll be heading back there next year. They already announced some of their big deals for next year and I think I'm going to put a down payment down for next September. That way, I can just pay it down over the course of the year. It helps to spread it out, you know.
