Argh!!!
Time for a mini rant.
I spent the entire day back in the kids department, changing all the displays. Well, most of them anyway. There's still a few to be changed. But I got the price-sensitive ones up. It went fine and I actually quite enjoyed it. I like the merchandising end of my job. It's ordered and methodical and, as long as people leave me alone, it is customer-free. I had put thought into it, planning out the endcaps prior to today. I was really happy with the work I had done.
So, when I finished for the day, I still had about a half hour left. I went to look around at the rest of the store.
What the hell was the rest of the staff doing?! 'Cause it looks like nothing. Three endcaps were up. And that's it. There are at least ten endcaps that were slated to go up...YESTERDAY! Plus, a history table and several smaller tables were supposed to go up. And none of that was done. I was royally pissed. Here I am, busting my ass to get the kids stuff done and the main aisle of the store looks like crap, half finished. Our frontlist lead had started on stuff yesterday, so I just assumed that she'd finish it up today, especially with our other Department Manager riding her ass. Nope. Not done. I took down and put up THIRTEEN endcaps in the last 24 hours. How could this happen?
I took a lot of time last week to plan out the merchandising. I laid out where every table and endcap was supposed to go on the store map. It just pisses me off that it wasn't done. So I let my manager know before I left. We have our DM coming in tomorrow and all we need is for her to see the store all half-finished. He was not pleased, but did not blame me in the slightest. I was not the MOD today. Anyway, this means that I will, once again, be busting my hump to get a bunch of displays up tomorrow morning with a miniscule staff.
Okay, that's that. I just had to vent.
