rants and miscellany
It's been an interesting couple days in these parts. Open Campus continues unabated (unfortnately), but I've been doing OK with avoiding les prefrosh. Though my current rant about admissions is a classic.
Current parents who call ME and bother ME because they want to know when classes end. Have we ever heard of, say, TALKING TO THEIR CHILD WHO ATTENDS THIS SCHOOL?!?! I mean, come on. (and these are parents who say, "I need to make xyz appointment, when is my child's last final?) Have we ever heard of Google? Or www.rochester.edu? Let's get real, folks.
And ohmyholyjesus, I have a crazy mother on the phone who is obsessed with a corporate award. Damn. I hate parents.
Though I did just have a very nice parent come in who was all, "Oh my god, you were my tour guide this summer!" Those are always welcome.
In other news, I may have to go home again soon. My great-aunt (though the title implies more distance than neccessary) Theresa passed away suddenly yesterday, of a heart attack. She was a sweet woman who was pretty close to my family--she was my aunt's godmother. She was also my Grampy's sister, and her kids have had a rough time of it--so she had that classic sweet-as-pie, tough-as-nails thing. But she was always quite wonderfil and she'll be missed. I mostly want to be there for my mom--it hasn't been easy lately.
Also, I want to have my graduation party at a Rox game. Nice little dream to have.
