OK, so I'm sitting on my couch, reading Why Parties for the bajillionth time, and I have NPR on in the background. It's On Point, and the host is talking to someone about whether or not we're in a pre-apocalyptic time right now(Can't make this up).
And the guest cites mother-freaking Bowling Alone.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Also, in Why Parties, John Aldrich writes "For incumbent members of the House, the probability of reelection is so high (barring indictment)(emphasis added by me) that [expected utility of running equation] is almost always positive, so re-election is rare."
First, that's an awesome line that I hadn't noticed before.
Second, Aldrich obviously has a higher opinion of the American people than I do. I have no doubt they'd reelect someone under indictment.
Third, he might be right, in which case we can say PEACE OUT to Tom DeLay, and that makes me happy.
