Ookay, so I just read through a thread that's from a few days ago, and it brought up two new questions I'd like to pose you all. I AM SORRY, I KNOW, CIRCUMCISION AGAAAAIN. But I'm having a boy in a month, and up until very, very recently, my husband and I were at odds about it. So.
1) It was decided by most in the previous circumcision post that the person who said "no" SHOULD always get the final say. However, we live in Real Life, where that doesn't happen. So, if you are strongly "NO" but your partner is strongly for, and there is no chance of either of you budging, when it comes down to it, how do you handle the situation?
2) The biggest non-religious argument I hear for circumcision is so that the father and son will "match". Why does this matter? My boobs don't look like my mother's boobs. My SKIN COLOUR does not match my father's. Why do my husband and his son HAVE to have matching penises? Anyone out there horribly traumatized by not having a penis that matches your father's?
I don't mean that sarcastically, honest. I just don't understand why this only applies to penises.
ETA TO CLARIFY: I understand the reasoning behind religious circumcision, and I have heard many arguments for circumcision (which I, in general, disagree with), the argument I'm most curious about, though, is what I mentioned in 2, simply because I don't understand why it's an issue.
