Lets say you have two daughters. They are both pre-teens, or in their early teens. Neither has a job or any of their own spending money.
Both have recently grown out of most of their clothes, so you need to take them clothes shopping, but you have a limited budget.
Daughter 1 does not care about labels, or even if her clothes are new, as long as they fit and are comfortable.
Daughter 2 is a bit more picky, and tends to favor more expensive brands. She refuses to wear anything second-hand, and will often turn her nose up at clearance racks.
How do you split up the money? Do you spend the same amount on both and let them both pick their own clothes, even if it means daughter 2 only ends up with a couple outfits and daughter 1 is able to spread her share into a whole new wardrobe.
Do you spend more on daughter 2 because she has more expensive tastes, that way both get the same amount of new outfits?
Do you spend the same amount on both, but force daughter #2 to stick to the sales racks, even if she is puts up a fuss about it?
Something else entirely?

money
