There is a God

There is a God- Carman

93 million miles from the blistering surface of the sun hangs the planet earth-

A rotating sphere perfectly suspended in the center of the universe

The ultimate creation from an infinite mind An unbelievably intricate complex design

A supernatural testimony, an irrefutable sign that... THERE IS A GOD

The size, position ( Read more... )

This image has always resounded with me: Seven or eight dwarves sitting in paradise, eyes shut, insisting that they were not in heaven, but instead still in the stable which they had gone in to. "The dwarves were so afraid of being taken in, they could not be taken out."

C.S. Lewis, "The Last Battle"

I dont know. I'm not sure if I buy into the whole, "Earth thang" Yeah, God made the earth and human beings but picking at the reasons why we are existing sounds like we fear god. It makes me angry when I hear things about how great the Earth is for human beings. Like how great God made the Earth for us. What if he made it for different reasons as well? What if he used Earth for surveying weather patterns? We fear what we dont understand. Why do some people fear god?

And why do "Religous" people pick on Atheism? Everyone has their own beliefs that they hold true to themselves. Why cant people respect their beliefs and stop critisising others for having their own feelings? Didnt God teach us to love everyone for who they are, not what they believe in? When I "Profile" a person I profile their character, not their relationship with God.

Well, the bible tells us in Genesis that God made Earth because it pleased him, but he needed someone to take care of it -- that was man. We should fear God. He is our creator, and we are currently at war with him. We have put ourselves at odds with God. Also, we are not better than the other animals in the fact that we fear pain and like pleasure. God is incomprehensible, and that can be painful. We don't like to think of ourselves as small and weak, but by definition God must be inevitably bigger and stronger than us ( ... )

Thank you for some awesome insight.:) Everyone has their own views because God reflects on everyone in different ways. I feel that everyone has to have a belief in her. Knowing her name and not believing is a belief. There are many reasons that contribute to the loss or gain of faith. But ultimately, I feel that every level of faith should be accepted as a way of life. Well, unless the faith hurts others or themselves then their reflection of her is seemly destructive. But who profiles the faith and labels a certain belief as destructive?

Now I see why God is scrutinized often.

"The way of life is a mystery, but only you can discover your mystery"

Oooh! I love that song! Carman has some great stuff, doesn't he? Have you ever heard The Champion (the song, which is very different from his movie, which I still don't quite know how to take), or This Blood? Those are some of my faves. I was on quite a Carman kick when I was in Jr. High, and I have a TON of his tapes (this was before CD's were so popular - doesn't THAT make me feel old! And I'm only nearly 23! lol...) if you want to borrow any of them. Oh! And his song about the Soap Operas! SO FUNNY!

I've never heard this song before! But I love the lyrics. It's such great poetry. It's odd how you don't realize that until you actually read the lyrics. That would be awesome to be a songwriter. :) Thanks for posting that Betsy. :)
