The Last Showcase

Tom and I drove up to LA for the second showcase yesterday. Left around noon, got there two hours later. Listened to Led Zeppelin the whole way up, and let me tell ya, he listens to it LOUD. Like, wincing on every chord stroke loud. Half deaf by the time we got to LA, but whatever, still fun. Call time was 5 pm so we had some time to kill. Walked around LA for a while, got a little of that heat stroke thing, got an iced tea lemonade. You know how it works.

The showcase itself went pretty well. Not nearly as good as in San Diego, but not bad. Kim and I agreed we deserved a B+ on our performance. The audience was pretty weak. It's a much smaller theatre than the Lyceum, maybe 50 seats or so, and they weren't even filled! And the Lyceum had over 200 people! Damn the LA industry! After the performances were done, most everyone from the Tuesday night class waited around for a little while. Pam, Kim, Merri, Kimri, Tom; it's going to be sad because most everyone won't be taking classes again when they start in August. So it's basically goodbye. The good side of the low attendance was the extra food. I got to bring home some chocolate cheesecake, wine, and champagne. So there's that, if nothing else. Plus, I'm done straightening my hair. Had to do it because that's how I looked when we did the filming. It's gotten to be a bit of a pain. Curly's the way to go from now on.

On the way back, Tom put on the Beegees and Pink Floyd. We had a pretty good talk about the whole business of acting and class ending. See, Tom was the star of the last showcase. He got a casting director, an agent, and a date out of it. I only had a casting director and an agent. But now I'm caught up.

Good things.
