Day four

Aug 01, 2006 15:15

This day was pretty sweet. I started out with a breakfast burrito and about 6 midget cans of OJ and then we were on the river. Since we had the 4 man boats the day before, we got to be in the 1 person inflatable kayaks (duckies). The first part of the day was kinda boring, and we stopped in some random railroad town where all of 6 people lived. Further down the river there was a nice rock to jump off of, say at least 15 feet above the river. This led to a few painful encounters with the water, but it was fun anyway. And the most anticipated part of the day was going through the set of rapids called Surprise (class III), which took out most of us on our last trip there. The company took some good pictures, and our guide gets the award for best crash in the rapids (seen in the red duckie). Soon after that we got to our campsite and I for some reason had an awful headache and sunburn so I sat in my tent for around 2 hours and remembered how nice it was back home, where sand wasn't stuck in places you didn’t know you had, and people like Molly were there to make you feel better. It was around this time I wanted to be back home watching a movie in an air-conditioned house with good friends, not in a tent agonizing over my head while a loud ass train drove by 100 feet behind me. Meanwhile, the rest of my troop gathered firewood so we could out-do our neighboring campsite with fire size. This plan was a success; the fire was a good 15 feet tall. And after a hard days work, we discovered the duckies make nice air mattresses.

ps. Molly, I included you in my entry, I hope you noticed :P
